forty days alone

$125.00

This is a visual history of a forty day retreat Asha did in the winter of 1989 in a ten by twelve cabin in the foothills of the Blue Ridge mountains near Charlottesville, Virginia. It had no electricity or running water and was about a 45-minute walk uphill from the nearest dwelling

“I decided to chronicle my experience daily as I had so few maps myself of retreats. None of the experiences I had read or heard about gave me a sense of what actually happens. This is my experience as honestly as I could chronicle it.” …

“Learning to be alone is not easy. Loving one’s self enough to overflow love to others is not easy. Exploring our shadow is not easy. Developing a realistic version of reality is very hard. There are so many wonderful results of this hard work. A respect for life itself and its awesome mystery being among the greatest.

May you find peace every day... and a good laugh.” —Asha

12” x 14” | spiral bound | 104 pages
note: binding is white poly (not metal as pictured)

All proceeds are donated to The Heartwood Tea School and The Lama Foundation Meditation Room.
